Apparently Coming Out Is No Big Deal

Recently it seems like a slew of celebrities have been coming out. Just this year, we’ve welcomed Ricky Martin, Sean Hayes, Chely Wright, Jennifer Knapp, and Anna Paquin (even if it’s just bisexual) to our ranks. However, despite the monumental moment in their lives… according to the New York Times’ Jeremy M. Peters in his article Coming Out: When Love Dares Speak, and Nobody Listen, no one seems to care.

How To Get Yourself Out of a Funk

I know they always say we are our own biggest critic. And I’m proud to say that I generally full of optimism and am a true believer that all will work out in the end. It’s all part of the flow… the many metaphors for life I could go into, but don’t want to seem cliche, so I’ll leave those for your imagination. It would be an understatement to say that I’ve been in a funk as of late.

Taming the Facebook Giant

Ok, let’s be honest… 400 million active users is a serious number. Especially when the average user is spending more than 55 minutes a day on Facebook. Not to mention the other outrageous statistics like the 5 billion tidbits (video, links, news, photos, etc) of information shared each week or the 5.3 billion fans in the Facebook-Sphere. So, how do we over-power the sleeping giant?

What People Do When They’re Unemployed

Well, I can say that I’ve found a few perks to being unemployed. This past month has given me even more time to put off things… things like cleaning.

Oh, Universal Music… You’re So Funny.

As I was keeping up with my Google Reader this afternoon, I came across the handful of articles circulating the virtual news stands about Universal Music Group’s bright idea. Apparently, they’ve found a way to save themselves from this newfangled “internet” thing people seem to be buzzing about. Remember CD’s? Yeah, those discs we all used to buy back in 2001… well, they’re about to get cheaper. Oh, what’s that? No one cares.

5 Cities I’d Like to Hang My Hat In

With the potential of a big move looming over me, I find myself perusing “Top Cities” lists and trying to find the perfect fit for me. A few have either stuck out recently or have always been on my list.

How Gmail Changed My Life

I happen to think Gmail is the best email client on the face of the earth. I really don’t know how some people can bare to use Hotmail, Yahoo, or AOL for their email… and the worst? Using your ISP’s email service. UGH. So, I’d like to address the reasons why Gmail is superior to all others as well as offer a few tips to those Gmail users that aren’t using it to it’s full potential.

Top Musical Influences: Part 2 – High School

After the last installment that culminated my childhood musical favorites, I became a little nostalgic when thinking about this next endeavor. High school is always one of those times in life that people say you’ll always remember… that you’ll do a lot of your growing during those four years. Well, I indeed did that, but I think it’s a different type of growth. It’s preparation for actual growth. Entry-level growth. And with that, comes music that greatly fosters emotion. Enter my emo phase.

Obligatory Kanye Response

Let me preface, I’ve never been a huge fan of Mr. West. Really, I only liked “Gold Digger”… and that’s probably because it was based off of an already amazing song, thanks to Ray Charles. I’ve always thought he was kind of a douchebag. For instance, a handful of years ago when he was nominate [...]

Top Musical Influences: Part 1 – Childhood

As I was driving home from work yesterday, I started thinking about all the different musical “moods” I’ve had through my life. Mainly separated by life cycles and ages, my musical taste has molded throughout the years. With that, I’ve decided to culminate some of the top musical influences/favorites during different periods in my life. This four part saga will commence with “The Early Years” of my childhood – the pre high school ages. (Keep in mind that the final part is cumulative and will include those that, to me, are timeless)
