What People Do When They’re Unemployed
Well, I can say that I’ve found a few perks to being unemployed. This past month has given me even more time to put off things… things like cleaning. Now, I will say that I have done some pretty intense cleaning with all this free time, including today’s 8 hour kitchen cleaning extravaganza accompanied by my cleaning guru, Mom. My kitchen now smells of cleaning liquids and peppermint (which being used for some unfortunate circumstances that have decided to inhabit my kitchen). Quite the mix. I’ve adequately vacuumed my entire house, dusted, tidied the front porch, and even taken down the christmas tree (yes, in March). However, how long did it take me to finally give in and start cleaning? Weeks. About 3 of them.
So, what have I done with all that other time you ask? Here’s a summary:
- I conquered Super Mario Bros. Wii
- caught up on any sleep I might have ever lost during my lifetime of school and work
- over-analyzed my funds and budget
- mastered wake boarding on Wii Sports Resort
- cook for practically every meal
- watched more college basketball than ever before
- daydreamed about getting an awesome job
- take my dog to the park more often
- started downloading torrents again
- played more guitar, wrote some half finished songs
- resisting the urge to spend money on anything that isn’t needed for basic life functions
I do feel like should be doing more… stuff like refinishing old furniture, sewing a quilt, volunteering, or maybe even beginning to study for the GRE (which is definitely becoming an option). Oh well, I don’t know of a guide book for unemployed people.
These accomplishments are, of course, in addition to my job hunt. That is the more depressing topic. I will amuse you at a later time about my disgust for the job market.
